Aid to Thalassemia Families~LIon's Club of Keningau

Thalassemia is a major public health concern in Sabah and is also the commonest inherited blood disorder in Malaysia. As it is genetically linked screening plays an important role in preventing the spread of Thalassemia.

Thalassemia does not only impact on the patient but also on the family as it requires life long treatment which is costly.

Our Mission:

• To provide financial support to families affected by Thalassemia via provision of monthly food ration.
• To work hand in hand with other government and non government organizations to establish a support group for families affected with Thalassemia.
• To provide accurate and latest information on our Lion's Club of Keningau activities pertaining to Thalassemia.

Lets us work together to provide support to families affected by Thalassemia and to spread awareness on the disease.

领养地中海贫血症患者家庭

根地咬獅子會聯合丹南及根地咬地中海貧血症協會, 主辦了關懷地中海貧血症福利日活動。

至目前为止， 以下地区登记拥有地中海贫血症患者共有32个家庭。

• 根地咬： 22个家庭
• 丹南： 5个家庭
• 担布南：5个家庭

各獅友及社會熱心大衆的熱烈支持與慷慨贊助下，經過多年的努力，已經爲此項計劃領養超過廿五個家庭。由於需要領養的家庭人數越來越多，包括來自根地咬，擔布南及丹南區的患者，每一個月給予擁有兩名患者家庭之援助金爲兩百令吉現金來計算，三十二個家庭所需之費用是一個非常龐大的數目，因此必須要獲得社會熱心大衆的熱烈參與，關懷與慷慨贊助，才能協助患者及家庭成員解決所面對之生活經濟困境。

除此之外，也資助患者家庭各類食品，其中包括鷄蛋、美祿、麥片飲料、牛奶、塘與食油等，每一位患者每月將獲得價値六十令吉的食品。照此計算，在此項計劃下，該獅子會每一個月必須承擔的援助經費大約需要一萬令吉。 如果該獅子會未能負擔每一個月給予援助，將改爲每兩個月一次。但是他們深切的希望此現象不會發生，如果能獲得社會大衆的慷慨解囊，熱心資助領養一個家庭每月兩百令吉的善款，此問題就可以迎刃而解。
